OUR MOTIVATION
TRAVELING
Traveling keeps you feeling alive. All your senses are alert and you are always expecting something unknown to happen. You constantly adjust to new situations, new people, new cultures, and new environments.
There is less to rely on and more to discover. If you open up to the experience, you will learn not just about new things, but also about yourself.
OUR STORY
March 2020 - June 2022
Our brand Travel to Stay Sane itself began in 2020 due to the global pandemic and a months-long travel ban but we still had an itch to see the world.
To help keep sane during quarantine, we began the process of creating a versatile travel clothing brand.
The major impacts of our brand image have always been: Traveling, Comfortable Travel Wear and Sustainability.
Since we were just starting out we also decided traveling with our home on wheels through Mexico and Central America for a few months, which had developed in a 2-years long trip.
Since we lived on the road we couldn’t actually make our merch ourselves which is why we chose a company who offered eco-friendly clothing, DTG printed our designs and sent them out directly to our customers. Even though we pretty much enjoyed being able to keep Travel to Stay Sane alive we realized how much we wanted to create our merchandise ourselves for several reasons.
July 2022 - NOW
After returning to California we then had the opportunity to start from scratch and to re-brand and re-design our merch. We met up with our wholeseller who is the most sustainable in California.
After further weeks of research, we discovered heat-pressing and began practicing which was a very long process.
We additionally bought a vinyl cutter thinking we would cut out our logo and slogan ourselves but it came with many limitations such as color and variety. But most crucially it is a challenge to find good, long lasting, vegan, cruelty free, non-toxic and water-based vinyl.
After one months of practice and research we decided to go with a company who creates all that for us without the use of vinyl. Vinyl with PVC is a very toxic material still being used by so many small and big business for its simplicity, cheap cost, and convenience. Eventually we returned the vinyl cutter.
By getting outside of our comfort zone and creating our own paths, we are able to develop a better understanding and appreciation of the world around us.
In a world with fast fashion majors or other businesses which don’t focus on a rather sustainable production (just yet) we are here to evolve, educate and make a small change.
Unfortunately not much in our economy can be done without leaving a footprint. With every step we take we think about our impact on the environment such as the clothes itself, the print on the clothes and our plastic waste.
Our heart is in this and we welcome any type of feedback such as constructive criticism.
